Red Bull X-Alps

"It is much more than just crossing the Alps, it is an adventure, an expedition and at the same time the hardest outdoor competition all over the world"
        - Hannes Arch

As the "mastermind" behind the grueling cross-country adventure race known as Red Bull X-Alps, Hannes Arch proves that he has the spirit and capability to combine sports in its purest form with modern marketing and media strategies. What started as a grassroots event has by now grown into its fifth edition as an international competition that can be followed live by online tracking as well as in broadcast and print media all over the world.

After races in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009, Red Bull X-Alps returned in 2011 for a new edition of the extreme race from Salzburg to Monaco. After 11 days, 40 minutes and a total of 1807 kilometres covered by foot or in the air by paraglider, Switzerland’s Christian Maurer was the first to cross the finishing line in the principality and dive into the Mediterranean Sea.
