Hannes Arch’s “Rhythm & Air” successfully premiered in Europe at the Wolfgangsee, Austria

Flying is art! A fact impressively proven on Saturday evening by Hannes Arch at the Scalaria Air Challenge 2001. Embedded into the perfect natural backdrop of the Wolfgangsee (Lake Wolfgang), his new project “Rhythm & Air” – a combination of aerobatics, live music and show acts – had its European premiere. Thousands of spectators came to watch live amongst them several VIPs of sports, society and economy.

Redefine the art of flight – a task Hannes Arch set out to do, peaking in yesterday’s Scalaria Air Challenge for the first time in European air-space. The totally new project “Rhythm & Air” of the aerobatics pilot represents a symbiosis of impressive aerobatics, live music and professional show-acts, creating a whole new and modern approach to the sports of flying.

Just short before sunset in a perfect evening atmosphere the 35 minute long show was launched. Accompanied by the sounds of NOISIA and classical music by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Arch took off into the sky. Inspired by the tunes he drew is own personal melody of flying into the sky. A fire-show with action-model and TV-host Miriam Höller and modern dance performed by members of the Vienna State Ballet harmonically completed the one of a kind choreography. Breathtaking flight maneuvers and the see-stage appeared as one and reflected the thematic setting of the four elements air, soil, fire and water.

“I’m very happy everything turned out that well. As for every premiere you never know until the very last moment if everything in midair, on the ground or on the water comes together. Me personally, I found it important to touch the crowd emotionally and I think we quite did that”, commented the Red Bull Air Race World Champion of 2008 being pleased with this absolutely successful premiere in Europe.

“Rhythm & Air” – initiated by Hannes Arch – represents a new dimension in aerobatics, combining it with experimental music and modern, action paced show-acts. World premiered in Al Ain, a desert town in the United Arab Emirates, it now impressed the crows at the pictorial Wolfgansee (Lake Wolfgang).
