fastest section time of the day between gate 3 and 4

A spectacular pylon hit in the Quattro gate destroyed the Austrian Air Race pilot's goal to survive the elimination round at the Red Bull Air Race in San Diego on 22. September 2007! Arch with his silver Edge 540 had the fastest speed at the start gate, one of the best split times during the day and the fastest section time of the day between gate 3 and 4, but all that didn't help, 10 seconds for a pylon hit is just to much to rank under the first 8. "I liked the track and did really good times in qualifying and training, I was motivated and I think I found a good line to be fast. The pylon hit was the result of a too quick knife edge turn before finishing my turn radius into the Quattro gate, a mistake that was not necessary at all. Anyway, it goes all so fast and I was happy to avoid a full contact with the pylon by pushing some negative Gs, not an easy task to fulfill in that moment!" There is still a chance for the quarter final in Perth beginning of November before Arch will finish his first Red Bull Air Race season, defiantly a very successful one already right now.
